There are no current plans to engage staff from the private sector who work in accountancy and corporate law firms to work in the Department of Finance during the course of the upcoming EU Presidency term. As part of preparations for Ireland’s hosting of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union later this year, my Department has increased internal staffing resources both in the Department’s headquarters in Dublin and in Ireland’s Permanent Representation in Brussels in order to deliver a successful Presidency under the Economic and Financial Affairs (ECOFIN) Council configuration, which I will chair during the Irish Presidency.
