As previously outlined in my reply to the Deputy, the school to which the Deputy refers was approved to enter the Department’s project pipeline under the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) Scheme. The approved project includes four mainstream classrooms, eight Special Education Tuition (SET) rooms, a four classroom Special Education Needs (SEN) base, and the associated ancillary accommodation. Delivery of the project has been devolved to the school authority.

A Stage 2a (Developed Design) addendum report was submitted to my Department in August 2025 and was reviewed by the Department’s Professional and Technical team. Following this review, further information was sought from the school authority in relation to specific mechanical and electrical issues. A response addressing these matters was received in October 2025.

This response, together with the original Stage 2a addendum report, is currently under detailed review from both a technical and cost perspective, in line with the requirements of the Department’s Infrastructure Guidelines. All school building projects, including this one, must complete these due diligence steps to ensure appropriate management of scope, timing and cost within the overall capital programme, Progression of all school building projects, including this one, is also considered within the context of National Development Plan (NDP) prioritisation process.

Once this review is concluded, the Department will communicate the outcome to the school authority to keep them fully updated on progress.
