I am pleased to inform the Deputy that I secured €1.34 million under Budget 2026 to recruit 17 Whole Time Equivalent posts to bring into clinical use 11 additional beds at Linn Dara.

As the Deputy will be aware, this purpose built 24-bed CAMHS inpatient unit on the Cherry Orchard campus is configured as two 11 bed wards, and an additional 2-bed High Dependency Unit. In May 2022, due to nursing staff shortages one of the 11-bed units was temporarily closed, and the capacity of the service was reduced to 13 beds.

The additional funding to re-open 11 beds in Linn Dara is a significant service improvement. Importantly, there will be increased availability for inpatient assessment and treatment for young people with severe mental health difficulties.

I have referred this PQ to the HSE to reply direct to the Deputy in relation to the other operational information sought.
