Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Ireland are autonomous bodies, as defined under relevant legislation, and are responsible for their own academic and administrative affairs. In that context, higher education institutions receive funding from a diverse range of sources which support the broad spectrum of their activities.

Institutions are responsible for ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place to oversee the use of their resources. Sources of income may include exchequer core funding, student fees, state grants, competitive research funding, EU funding, investment income, donations, endowments, and other commercial revenues such as library services, catering, and other services.

I can however confirm to the Deputy that no EU funding was dispersed via my Department in respect of infrastructural capital projects in the period in question.
