189. Deputy John Paul O'Shea asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of people in receipt of carer's allowance who are over the age of 66 years and providing full-time care for a son or daughter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22935/26]

As of the end of February 2026, there are a total of 21,493 people in receipt of carer's allowance who are aged 66 or older.

Data on the relationship between carers and carees is not routinely collated, and so I regret that we are unable to provide figures on how many carers are providing care for a son or daughter.
