Working Family Payment is a weekly in-work support which provides an income support for employees on low earnings who have at least one child. To qualify for Working Family Payment, the customer must be working a minimum of 38 hours per fortnight in ongoing insurable employment and have at least one qualified child who normally resides with them.

Please see table provided below with the breakdown of Working Family Payment recipients, average weekly rate of payment, the total expenditure for 2025 and projected expenditure for 2026.

Number of WFP Recipients (as at end Feb 2026)

53,254

Average Weekly WFP Payment (as at end Feb 2026)

€ 203.89

Total WFP Expenditure 2025

€ 467.9 million

Projected WFP Expenditure 2026

€ 531.9 million

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
