The Government's next International Climate and Environmental Finance Report will be published in April and will set out the detail of our international climate-related expenditure for 2024.

Climate action remains an important element of Ireland’s international development and foreign policies. Ireland contributes climate finance to developing countries, in line with global agreements. International climate finance contributions are made by: the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment; the Department of Finance; and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade prepares an annual report providing comprehensive information on funding sources, thematic and geographic priorities, and the disbursement channels through which Ireland supports our developing country partners to progress their goals for climate action and environmental protection.

Next month’s report will show that we are fully on track to have reached our target of providing at least €225 million in international climate finance annually by 2025. This target was set by the Taoiseach at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021 and represents a more than doubling of our climate finance from 2020 levels.
