Questions (2934)

Cathal Crowe

Question:

2934. Deputy Cathal Crowe asked the Minister for Health the steps being taken to support community-based Health Care Assistants, HCAs, in County Clare who are facing significant financial hardship due to rising fuel costs; if she will conduct an urgent review of the current mileage and travel allowance rates to ensure they reflect the actual costs incurred by front-line staff, particularly in rural areas where travel distances can exceed 40 km per client visit; if she will consider specific financial relief or fuel subsidies for these key workers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
