The school building project at Coláiste Cholmcille is devolved for delivery to Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB). It provides for an extension and refurbishment of the existing building.

This project is currently in the final stages of Stage 3 of the architectural design process. The Department approved GRETB to issue a Letter of Intent to the preferred contractor in February 2026. GRETB and the Design Team are currently working on the Tender Report supplement. Once the Department is in receipt of the report it will be subject to review in line with governance procedures.

The timing of project progression will reflect the need to carefully manage the rollout of projects to construction on a controlled basis to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently, align with the requirements of the Infrastructure Guidelines and Capital Works Management Framework and remain within the parameters of NDP funding.

GRETB will continue to engage directly with the school authorities to keep them fully informed of progress.

The current status of all projects continues to be set out under item number ten at the following link: www.gov.ie. This is updated on a regular basis to reflect project progress through the various stages of capital appraisal, site acquisition, design, tender and construction.
