My Department is currently engaged in the procurement process to secure expert advice to support the implementation of the Lower Shannon Fish Passage Initiative. This project is building on the Roadmap for the Lower River Shannon Report which was published in 2021 and is available on my Department's website at: www.gov.ie/en/department-of-housing-local-government-and-heritage/publications/lower-river-shannon-report-2021/. An initial output of the project will be the  production of an initial project plan and schedule. It is envisaged that the overall project will take in the region of 5 years to complete.
