The Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS) introduced in 2016, is designed to rejuvenate rural towns and villages throughout Ireland. This scheme places particular emphasis on projects which support sustainable employment creation, town centre resilience and regeneration, enhancing our streetscapes, and bringing derelict and vacant buildings and sites back into use as multi-purpose community spaces. Over €210 million has been allocated to over 1,900 projects since the launch of the scheme.
My officials are currently preparing a Call for Proposals for application under the Building or Land Acquisition Measure strand of the scheme with the intention of launching in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, I intend to issue a Call for Proposals under the ‘Main Scheme’ and ‘Project Development Measure’ strands of the scheme in the second half of the year.
TVRS priorities are reviewed and updated at the end of each scheme year, and to that end, the Department engages with local authorities and Town Regeneration Officers for feedback on what worked well in previous iterations of TVRS for future iterations of the scheme.
