Ireland is party to the comprehensive air transport agreement between the EU and its Member States and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) which includes Thailand. This agreement provides the legal framework should an air operator wish to begin scheduled services between Ireland and Thailand. Ireland ratified the agreement in 2023.

The Department of Transport has not been approached by any air operator expressing an interest in operating services between Ireland and Thailand.

It is important to note that the operation of any scheduled air service is a commercial decision for airlines, in consultation with airports and other market actors, based on the commercial viability of the route in question and other operational factors. I do not have a role in such decisions.
