197. Deputy Emer Currie asked the Minister for Transport for an update on a driving test (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [33323/26]

Minister of State at the Department of Transport

Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has statutory responsibility for the National Driver Testing Service including all testing and scheduling matters. In that regard, the operation of the service does not fall under the direct control of the Minister, or the Department of Transport and it would not be appropriate for myself as Minister or the Department to intervene in individual cases.

Given the RSA's responsibility in this matter, I have referred the Deputy's question to the RSA for direct response. Please contact my office if a reply is not received within ten days.
