The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. It works in over 150 countries to achieve three main goals by 2030: to end preventable maternal deaths, eliminate the unmet need for family planning, and stop gender-based violence and harmful practices.
UNFPA is a longstanding and highly valued partner of Ireland’s international development cooperation programme. Our partnership with UNFPA is in line with the Government's policy for international development, A Better World. It recognises that access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services is fundamental to transforming women's health outcomes and is a prerequisite for women’s empowerment and gender equality, and therefore for sustainable development.
