88. Deputy Barry Heneghan asked the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment the estimated Exchequer cost of fuel related subsidies and energy support schemes introduced in 2025 and 2026 within his Department’s remit; to provide a comparison with the level of funding allocated over the same period to decarbonisation measures and fossil fuel phase out initiatives; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has not introduced any fuel related subsidies in 2025 or 2026.

My Department has made allocations under various Programme areas across the Department to facilitate energy transformation actions. These Programmes administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI), such as Residential/Community Retrofit and other Energy Efficiency Programmes, will all assist with the decarbonisation and fossil fuel phase out in line with our climate change objectives.

The table below sets out the allocations to the SEAI Programme areas for the years 2025 and 2026.

Residential / Community Retrofit

Exchequer funding for grants and operational costs for Residential and Community Energy retrofit programmes administered through the SEAI. The grants support residential and community energy upgrades, including the Solar PV Scheme thereby assist homes in improving their energy efficiency and decarbonising their homes.

Other Energy Efficiency Programmes

Exchequer funding for the various public and business sector energy efficiency programmes / schemes administered through the SEAI. These schemes support businesses and public bodies in increasing energy efficiency and lowering carbon emissions

Exchequer funding for the procurement of external specialist services aimed at providing of high-quality strategic support and analytical & related services to facilitate the delivery of up to 80% renewable electricity by 2030 and maximising the potential of offshore renewable energy beyond 2030
