Thank you Deputy for the question. In terms of residential housing stock in the Curragh, there are one hundred and four (104) residential units, of which sixty-four (64) are vacant or uninhabitable. The Deputy will appreciate that many of these are within the confines of the Curragh Camp which is an active military installation and are therefore not suitable for transfer to any other agency.
On those properties, my officials have engaged with the Defence Forces to have the units identified as suitable for refurbishment to Single Living In Accommodation, included in the existing infrastructure development programme. I am advised that work is actively underway in relation preparing the necessary tender documentation with a view to commencing a procurement process this year. These developments will dovetail with an extensive wider programme of Defence Forces accommodation procurement.
There are three (3) residential units in the Orchard Park estate in the Curragh within the Defence portfolio. Officials in my Department are currently in discussions with Kildare County Council with regard to the disposal of these properties.
