305. Deputy John McGuinness asked the Minister for Defence her views on the refusal of a SUSI grant for a person (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [35039/26]

Responsibility for the Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) grant scheme, including its terms, conditions and eligibility criteria, rests with the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. Neither the Department of Defence nor the Defence Forces has any role in the administration of the SUSI grant. 

The Department does not comment on individual cases. Where requested, a comprehensive confirmation of the part-time and volunteer status of the Reserve Defence Force is provided. Such a confirmation has been provided to this individual for submission with his application.
