I wish to inform the Deputy that my Department uses advertising to communicate important public information, promote schemes and services available, and to encourage positive behaviour change in areas such as farm safety, health & well-being and animal welfare.

This expenditure includes the advertising of various schemes and services and the publication of Statutory Notices that are required to comply with various national and EU legislative requirements. Advertising is placed across both national and local media to communicate this information.

All advertising is procured in line with public procurement rules through a media buying agency, with media channel selection determined by target audience, best practice and value for money considerations, ensuring we are compliant with our Irish language obligations.

The tables below detail my Department’s advertising expenditure in each of the past five years.

Table 1 sets out the total advertising expenditure in each of the past five years.

Table 2 provides a breakdown of all advertising expenditure by media platform in each of the past five years.
