Ireland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the eighth time from 1 July to 31 December 2026. This represents a significant opportunity for Ireland to lead and shape the European agenda.

My Department has identified and is addressing all EU Presidency resourcing requirements. At the start of the Presidency, there will be 20 additional staff delivering on EU presidency related work across two locations – Brussels (7) and Dublin (13). Existing staff from across the Department have been re-deployed to take on this work along with some temporary staff also hired for this purpose.
