The Department of the Taoiseach prioritises building and sustaining a dynamic,?agile?and responsive workforce that supports the Taoiseach and the Government, and is aligned to the Department’s Statement of Strategy.

The Department maintains a constant focus on being a lean, agile organisation by resourcing new and expanding work areas by reallocating existing resources and, only where necessary, recruiting additional staff.

In respect of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, the Department has employed three Presidency Policy Officers on temporary contracts at the Civil Service grade of Administrative Officer.
