Questions (576)

Emer Currie

Question:

576. Deputy Emer Currie asked the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport if his Department would consider allowing for a portion of the sports capital grant to go towards expert consultants to manage procurement, planning and other related activities in order to help deliver the awarded project, similar to the Department of Education and Youth summer works and emergency works schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Community Sport Facilities Fund (CSFF) is the primary means of providing Government funding to sport and community organisations at local, regional and national levels throughout the country. The fund aims to foster an integrated and planned approach to the development of sports and physical recreation facilities and assists the purchase of non-personal sports equipment.

The CSFF does not provide funding toward professional fees including consultancy fees and and there are no plans to change the prioritisation of capital expenditure over professional fees. I am committed to opening a new CSFF round in 2026, and I hope to do so in the first half of the year.
