I can advise the Deputy that the applicants cited will need to submit an application to the EU Treaty Rights Division of my Department for a new permission letter before they can submit an online renewal application.

The relevant application form can be accessed on my Departments Immigration Service website at the following link: chen-judgement-form.pdf (www.irishimmigration.ie/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/chen-judgement-form.pdf).

While every effort is made to issue a decision on each application as soon as possible, current processing times may vary having regard to the complexity of the application and the possible need for the EU Treaty Rights Division to seek further information. The applicants concerned can be assured that there will be no avoidable delay in having their case brought to finality.

Customers can directly check the status of their immigration application on the Immigration Service’s Customer Service Portal. They can register for, or log in to their existing account, at www.portal.irishimmigration.ie/en/

As an Oireachtas member, the Deputy can also request the status of individual immigration cases by e-mail, using the Oireachtas Mail facility at: IMoireachtasmail@justice.ie, which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Question process.
