My Department would not hold the relevant information in relation to the number of public servants currently enduring pension abatement due to their re-employed status within the public sector. Instead individual Pension Paying Authorities hold the appropriate records.

However, in respect of retired civil servants subject to abatement, the NSSO would hold relevant records, and I have provided a response to this PQ based on civil servants rather than public servants.

As of 22 May 2026, 42 retired civil servants are subject to pension abatement, with the total annual value of abatements amounting to €260,108.
