527. Deputy Thomas Gould asked the Minister for Education and Youth the date a special school (details supplied) will open; if it will be open in September 2026; and the way in which wastewater will be connected on the site. [38722/26]

This government is fully committed to supporting students with special educational needs to fulfil their full potential and the Programme for Government makes a number of commitments to deliver on this objective.

It is my department’s intention that the school building referred to by the Deputy will be operational for the 2026/27 school year.

The design team are currently engaging directly with the planning department in the local authority to provide further requested information on the retention of planning permission and a formal response is due to issue shortly.

The project manager and their design team are also engaging with Irish Water and arrangements are in train to provide further requested information.

My department and the NCSE are committed to delivering an education system that is of the highest quality and where every child and young person feels valued and is actively supported and nurtured to achieve their full potential.
