I propose to take Questions Nos. 131 and 149 together.

My Department is committed to enhancing the delivery and development of youth services and opportunities for young people across the sixteen Education and Training Board (ETB) areas, including City of Dublin.

The Independent Youth Work Projects – Dublin (IYWP-D) is a collective of 31 independent youth work projects and services across Dublin city that receive UBU funding from the Department of Education and Youth, administered through the City of Dublin ETB.

The UBU Your Place Your Space (UBU) scheme is the department’s largest funded youth scheme, targeting young people aged between 10 and 24 years old who are identified as marginalised, vulnerable and at risk of not flourishing. It delivers evidence-informed interventions that promote soft skills, confidence, and progression into education, training, or employment, and provides the foundation for local youth organisations to deliver tailored supports that meet the needs of their communities.

A budget of €52.8 million was allocated under the main UBU scheme in 2026, representing a 4% increase on Budget 2025. Over €17.8 million of the UBU budget was allocated to City of Dublin Education and Training Board in its capacity as a grant administering body of the UBU scheme.

In 2026, the 31 Youth Services represented by Independent Youth Work Projects – Dublin were allocated a total of €14,086,539 in UBU funding from the department. The table below details the funding allocated to these projects for the last 4 years, which has risen by over €3million since 2023.

My officials and I will continue to engage with the ETBs across the country who have responsibility for supporting the provision, coordination, administration, and assessment of youth services in their functional areas to understand the youth service needs of young people across the country, including those living in Dublin city.
