198. Deputy Pa Daly asked the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment the number of retired officials that were re-engaged by his Department on a consultancy basis in each of the years 2015 and to date in 2025; the reason for engaging them; the costs incurred in respect of their engagement; and if his Department requires consultants to declare conflicts of interest in advance of utilising their services. I can advise the Deputy that the number of retired officials that were re-engaged by my Department in each of the years 2015 and to date in 2026 is nil.

My Department, prior to signing a contract with a potential contractor, ensures within the provisions of the draft contract that any Conflict of Interest is disclosed.
