In November 2024, an initial and outline Brief of Requirements for a new site to support the development of a Garda Station in Cherrywood was received by the Office of Public Works from An Garda Síochána.

In December 2025, the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration published its Sectoral Investment Plan for the Justice Sector. This includes several construction and estate refurbishment Capital Projects.

The prioritisation of the Capital Programme is a matter for An Garda Síochána and the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration.

Subject to direction from An Garda Síochána, and a detailed Brief of Requirements from An Garda Síochána, the Office of Public Works will engage with An Garda Síochána and the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration to support them in identifying and appraising the most suitable site/ sites to support their objectives.

Consistent with the requirements of the Infrastructure Guidelines, the Office of Public Works will be the project Contracting Authority.

The Office of Public Works will manage and deliver the project subject to the approval of the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, as the Approving Authority, and in accordance with subsequent direction from An Garda Síochána, as Sponsoring Agency.
