Road traffic legislation is enforced as part of the day-to-day duties of members of An Garda Síochána, as well as through a programme of high-visibility road safety and enforcement operations carried out in partnership with other state agencies, in order to make our roads safer for all.

The Road Safety Authority is the statutory body with responsibility for reporting on fatal, serious and minor injury collisions on public roads. They receive collision data from An Garda Síochána and produce official statistics to help develop evidence based road safety interventions. Road traffic collision data can be found at the following address:

For the Deputy’s information, the Road Safety Authority publishes a road collision map which is searchable by vehicle type and lists all fatal and serious collisions by year. Collision data from 2016 to 2024 is publicly available and can be found at the following link: www.rsa.ie/road-safety/statistics/collisions
