The State Claims Agency (SCA) has a statutory remit to manage personal injury and third-party property damage claims on behalf of State authorities.
The SCA has provided me with the information set out below.

Question 1: Clinical claims received
The SCA has received 1,883 claims under the Clinical Indemnity Scheme between 2024-2026 (to end-April), of which, 119 have been finalised. In the period 2024-2026 (to end-April), the SCA has finalised a total of 1,751 claims under the Clinical Indemnity Scheme.
Question 2: Amount Paid in Clinical Claims
The following table contains the transactional amounts paid by the State Claims Agency under the Clinical Indemnity Scheme, that are associated with claims and a small number of incidents and inquests. It excludes claims recorded against other designated schemes. This amount is inclusive of VAT. It includes payments between 01/01/2024 and 30/04/2026 and is correct as of 01/05/2026.
Payments are made over the lifetime of a claim and the amounts below may relate to claims that are active or finalised.
