I propose to take Questions Nos. 2 and 3 together.
I am aware of recent media reports on this entity. The Government is concerned by reports that anything exported from Ireland could end up supporting Russia’s brutal war on Ukraine. The Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment is undertaking an investigation.
Ireland implements EU and UN sanctions. Sanctions are a matter decided on collectively at EU level. In reaching decisions, the Commission and Member States take all factors into account. That includes the impact of any decisions on the intended target and elsewhere, including on European supply chains. We will discuss the results and any other relevant information with our EU colleagues and we will reach any decisions required together.
Ireland is in regular contact with Ukrainian counterparts to discuss bilateral co-operation, Irish support for Ukraine’s EU accession, economic ties and sanctions. This includes questions around how to ensure effective sanctions implementation. The question of exports from this entity has been raised by the Ukrainian side.
Ireland stands in full solidarity with the people of Ukraine and has contributed extensive political, humanitarian, non-lethal military, and economic support to Ukraine since February 2022.
