Deputy Eoin Ó Broin asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide a detailed update on the cost rental equity loan pipeline; if he will provide information on the funding approvals to date; and the number of schemes and units each scheme is expected to deliver in 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030, by local authority area and AHB approved for each scheme. View answerA total of 117 projects have been approved for Cost Rental Equity Loan (CREL) funding since its inception in 2021 to date, with anticipated cumulative delivery of just over 8,600 homes by the end of 2029, and associated state funding from my Department of almost €2billion. Of the circa 8,600 homes approved, 3,574 were delivered to the end of 2025 across 17 Local Authority Areas.
Applications for CREL are regularly received by my Department from the Housing Agency and as such the assessment and approval of applications on hand is continual. Details of proposals awaiting approval cannot be released due to reasons of commercial sensitivity. However, my Department can confirm that it continues to work with the Approved Housing Bodies to deliver cost rental homes at scale under the Cost Rental Equity Loan scheme, and at present there is a pipeline of just over 5,000 cost rental homes for delivery between 2026 and 2029.
