Following the collapse of the joint venture with Kerry County Council on the inability to secure planning permission for Killarney Primary Care Centre on Áras Phádraig site, the HSE has completed feasibility work in relation to HSE-owned properties and potential alternative locations in Killarney, with a view to delivering a purpose-built, permanent Primary Care Centre for the town.

In this context, a Site Review Committee has been established locally, to undertake a structured review of current and projected service accommodation needs in Killarney. The Committee’s role is to assess service requirements, consider site options, and make recommendations that will inform the identification of a preferred location. This work will directly input into the development of a business case for consideration under the HSE’s capital planning and approval processes.

Any proposal arising from this process will be advanced in line with the wider capital investment framework and will be subject to the necessary statutory and governance approvals.
