Defence Vote spending is managed through a single programme with all operational outputs delivered from a single set of forces encompassing the Army, Air Corps and Naval Service domains.

The Defence Forces have advised that, while no dedicated funding line is provided on the Defence Vote for official entertainment functions onboard Irish Naval Service ships while abroad,  Subhead A.22.1 of the Defence Vote does provide funding for Military Expenditure on international meeting, ceremonies, etc. They also advise that any request for funding from within this particular subhead must be supported by a detailed business case which complies with the requirements of Department of Public Expenditure and Reform Circular 25/2000 – Official Entertainment.

The table below sets out the allocation under Subhead A.22.1 for the years 2024, 2025 and 2026:

Subhead A22.1 Military expenditure on International Meetings, ceremonies etc.
