291. Deputy Emer Currie asked the Minister for Transport further to Parliamentary Question No. 294 of 5 March 2026, for an update on the request made by An Garda Síochána to his Department in September 2025 for the inclusion of driving licence photographs and signatures in the NVDF data sharing; if his Department sought legal advice since to confirm the position with regard to sharing of the photo; and if this process will be concluded before the summer recess of Dail Éireann. Further to Parliamentary Question No. 294 of 5 March 2026 in relation to the inclusion of driving licence photographs and signatures in the NVDF data shared with An Garda Síochána, I can confirm that my Department has sought, and is currently awaiting, legal advice in the matter. The Department will be guided by that advice in determining the position on the sharing of the data requested.
