335. Deputy Maurice Quinlivan asked the Minister for Transport the reason for the current delays in the issuing of driving licences by the National Driver Licence Service; the steps being taken to address the backlog of pending licences; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [45782/26]

Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has statutory responsibility for the National Driver Licence Service, including all service and operational matters.

I have therefore referred the Deputy's question to the RSA for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Orders.
