376. Deputy James Geoghegan asked the Minister for Education and Youth if she will outline the terms of reference of the AI in Schools External Advisory Taskforce; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [47646/26]
View answerThe AI in Education External Advisory Taskforce has been established to support the Department in developing a coherent national approach to the safe, responsible and effective use of AI across the school system at primary and post-primary level and the first meeting was held on 14th May.
The purpose of the Taskforce is to provide a structured mechanism for engagement with key stakeholders and facilitate expert input to examine the implications of AI for education and to help inform the development of policy, guidance and supports, having regard to relevant legal and regulatory requirements. The taskforce will take a phased approach to its work. The initial phase, of the taskforce will focus on Assessment, including summative and state-certified assessment, while also progressing work on Teaching, Learning and Formative Assessment. Further thematic areas will be considered over time.
Feedback from the members of the Taskforce on the draft Terms of Reference is currently being taken into consideration. Once finalised and signed off by the Taskforce they will be made available on the Departments website on gov.ie
