Dáil Éireann Debate, Tuesday - 23 June 2026
572. Deputy Mairéad Farrell asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if BIM mobile training unit courses will be offered on the west coast in 2026; if not the reason for this; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [46987/26]
View answerI am informed by BIM that the Coastal Training Unit (CTU) West Coast is currently not operational due to a temporary gap in staffing resources within the Skills Development team. BIM are actively working to address this situation and hope to have the CTU courses up and running again as soon as possible, and they do expect this to be within 2026. In the interim, courses are available through the National Fisheries Colleges in Castletownbere and Greencastle, as well as the East Coast CTU.
