The Remediation of Dwellings Damaged by the use of Defective Concrete Blocks Act 2022, as amended by the Act of 2025, underpins the Grant Scheme which provides grant funding to people whose homes have been affected by Defective Concrete Blocks.

The Scheme is currently open to applications in seven counties, namely Clare, Donegal, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo and parts of the administrative areas of Wexford County Council and of Fingal County Council, with further local authority areas to be designated under the scheme shortly, subject to Government approval.

I received Government approval for the designation of parts of the administrative area of Meath County Council under the scheme. I subsequently arranged for the moving of a motion for a Resolution in each House of the Oireachtas. These Resolutions passed through each House of the Oireachtas and I will shortly request the Government to make the Order.

Once the order is made it will allow for the inclusion of parts of the administrative area of Meath County Council under the grant scheme. The area will be identifiable on the map included in the Order.

Once the process to designate the relevant parts of the administrative area of Meath County Council for entry to the DCB Scheme has been finalised, affected homeowners should contact their local authority, Meath County Council, in this instance, or check their website for any updates: www.meath.ie. However, some initial time to allow the local authority to stand up the administration process may be required and my Department will actively engage with Meath County Council to ensure that is done as speedily as possible.
