The CLÁR programme provides funding under a number of different measures for small-scale infrastructural projects in designated rural areas. Last year over €14 million for was approved for 238 projects under the programme, with funding being provided for community facilities and amenities, community vehicles and specific support for island communities.

The 2026 CLÁR programme was launched on 10th March this year with a record budget of €12 million.

I understand that the Deputy is referring to a potential application under Measure 1 which funds community facilities and amenities on foot of applications submitted by the local authorities. Local authorities have until July 3rd 2026 to submit their prioritised applications to my department for further consideration

The school referred to by the Deputy is in a local authority area that has not yet submitted applications to my department. Any applications received by my department will be subject to further assessment as part of a competitive process.

I hope to announce all successful projects later this year.
