My Department works collaboratively with Higher Education Institutions and Education and Training Boards on the development of capital projects in line with their established masterplans. University of Limerick (UL) is an autonomous body established under statute. Decisions regarding the development, operation and management of the institution, including site locations for development, are the responsibility of its' governing authority. UL is currently consulting with stakeholders to inform development of its new strategic plan which it expects to launch later this year.

My Department has provided capital funding to UL in the form of the Devolved Capital Grant and the Higher Education Research Equipment Grant. UL is also developing proposals under the Departments' capital programmes such as the Higher Education Strategic Infrastructure Programme (HESIP) and the Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation Pathfinder Programme (EEDPP). These projects are currently at design stage and may in due course proceed subject to derogation from Section 64 capital restrictions.
