View answerI met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the College of Commissioners, during their visit to Cork on 2-3 July.
The meetings, held over two days, were an opportunity to exchange views on priorities for our EU Presidency.
I met bilaterally with the President and we discussed issues including the One Europe, One Market Roadmap to improve Europe's competitiveness; enlargement; security; and negotiations on the Multiannual Financial Framework, the Union's budget for the period beyond 2028. We also discussed international issues, including Ukraine and the Middle East.
I also co-chaired a joint meeting of Ministers and Commissioners with the President at which we discussed the key policies we hope to advance under the themes of our Presidency: competitiveness, values and security.
