Questions (213)

Liam Quaide

Question:

213. Deputy Liam Quaide asked the Minister for Health the workforce planning basis now used by the Department of Health and the HSE for specialist mental health services; the reason explicit multidisciplinary staffing benchmarks continue to apply in areas such as specialist mental health services for older people, while comparable national staffing benchmarks are no longer routinely published or applied across other specialist mental health services since A Vision for Change; the methodology that has replaced the staffing benchmark approach set out in A Vision for Change; whether this methodology allows the Department and the HSE to quantify the gap between current approved posts and required staffing levels by discipline, team and HSE region; whether she will publish clear staffing standards for general adult, child and adolescent, rehabilitation and recovery, crisis resolution and other specialist mental health teams; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
