70. Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine his position on the deployment of the European Crisis Reserve. [52279/26]
View answerThe European Commission has proposed emergency financial support for farmers funded through the agricultural crisis reserve in relation to the affordability of fertiliser as a key farm input, with an indicative allocation of €15.3 million for Ireland.
I have noted this proposal in relation to the use of the EU agricultural reserve to help farmers deal with high fertiliser costs. The proposal will now proceed through the relevant legal processes at EU level.
In the meantime, my Department will consider fully the approach to be taken in the deployment of these funds.
