In cases involving financial irregularities, including those arising from the overstatement of enrolment figures, it is the Department’s policy to engage with the school management and patron to ensure that an appropriate investigation is carried out at school level and that the matter is referred to An Garda Síochána where appropriate.

The Department’s approach is to agree repayments with the school that are reasonable and fair. The Department will revert to the Deputy with these figures, as soon as they can be provided.
