The Department’s Oversight Agreement with Tusla provides for engagement on risk management and governance matters as part of the overall accountability framework between the Department and the Agency. However, Tusla, as an operationally independent statutory body, is responsible for the maintenance and management of its Corporate Risk Register.

In line with the Oversight Agreement, the identification, assessment and mitigation of risks are matters for Tusla management, its Audit and Risk Committee and its Board.  It also provides that Tusla must inform the Department of  any significant risks, including reputational risks and such risks must brought to the Department’s attention in a timely manner.
