Deputy Niamh Smyth asked the Minister for Health if she will provide an update on the HSE's consideration of Skyclarys for the treatment of Friedreich's ataxia; the reason the drug was not included on the agenda of the HSE Drugs Group meeting of 14 July 2026; if she will confirm when a decision is expected; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Under the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013, the HSE has statutory responsibility for decisions on the pricing and reimbursement of medicines and medical devices; therefore, the matter has been referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
