I propose to take Questions Nos. 310, 311 and 312 together.

The Department of Education and Youth provides a payroll service on behalf of schools. In the case referenced, two senior officials within the department examined the teachers claims of an underpayment of salary in relation to his employment up to 24th February 2017. It was determined that he was paid correctly as per the terms of his employment.

A Contract of Indefinite Duration (CID) appointment provides for payment for a full school year from 1st September to the following 31st August. This is 52 weeks work and 52 weeks of associated salary. Salary includes payment for weekends, annual leave, bank holidays and school closures, it covers payment for the full school year and not just attendance in the school.

For the period in question, the individual was paid from 1st September 2016 to 24th February 2017 inclusive, at which time they resigned their position and salary ceased.

Question No. 311 answered with Question No. 310.
