As laid down in the Water Services Acts 2013 – 2022, Uisce Éireann has statutory responsibility for all aspects of water services planning, delivery and operation at national, regional and local levels. The scope, prioritisation and progression of individual projects is a matter for Uisce Éireann and is approved through its own internal governance structures. I, as Minister, have no function in such matters.

However, I have addressed a number of queries regarding water services in various locations in recent weeks, notwithstanding the foregoing legislative provisions. In order to prepare my replies to these queries, updates were sought and received via correspondence from Uisce Éireann to my Department as needed. These replies are published as part of the Official Record and are available on the Oireachtas website, and as such are publicly available. Details of the most recent relating to Kildare was a Commencement Matter debated in the Seanad on 18 June, the transcript for which can be accessed at this link: [https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/debate/seanad/2026-05-28/3/#s7]
