As the Deputy will be aware, the Irish Coast Guard Building Strategy, which is being delivered in partnership with the Office of Public Works (OPW), was launched in November 2025. The strategy provides a planned and prioritised programme for the renewal, replacement and enhancement of Coast Guard facilities nationwide, ensuring that infrastructure is modern, fit for purpose and value for money.

The OPW has prepared preliminary plans and associated cost estimates for the planned extension at Arklow Coast Guard Station, which have been submitted to my department for consideration. These proposals are currently under review, in the context of aligning objectives with the Building Strategy.

This review is due to be completed shortly, and my Department will engage further with the OPW to agree the scope of the proposed extension to be achieved within an appropriate budget and timeframe. I look forward to updating the Deputy on progress in due course.
