952. Deputy Aindrias Moynihan asked the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment the value of exports from firms located in County Cork, broken down by sector and destination market, for each of the years 2022 to 2025 inclusive; the percentage change over that period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department collects data annually on the performance of enterprise agency client firms (i.e. clients of Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland and Údarás na Gaeltachta). These are export oriented companies in the manufacturing and internationally traded services sectors. The data collected includes sales, exports, value added, and expenditure in the Irish economy. 2024 is the latest data available. Data for 2025 will be available in January 2027.

Table 1 below shows exports from Cork for enterprise agency client firms from 2022 to 2024. Total exports were €81.468 billion in 2024, up 2.8% since 2022. Modern manufacturing was the largest exporting sector with €63.191 billion in 2024 and this sector is comprised of Chemicals, Medical Devices, Computer, Electronic and Optical Products, and Electrical Equipment. The Information and Communication Services sector exported €9.576 billion in 2024, down by 6.9% since 2022. Food, Drink and Primary Production exported €6.967 billion in 2024, up 15.3% since 2022. Since 2022 exports from the traditional manufacturing sector decreased by 18.0%, while exports in Energy, Waste, Water, Construction increased 34.6% and Business, Financial and Other Services increased 18.7%.

In terms of export destinations 5.4% of exports from Cork went to the United Kingdom, 29.9% went to the Rest of Europe, 42.3% went to North America, 9.5% went to Asia, and 12.9% went to the Rest of World.

It is important to note that some agency client firms have multiple plants in different counties but may report as a group in one county, such as Cork, and this may impact on the results above.
